How does it work?

work

Changing from a traditional school to a virtual school is a big step. Besides having to withdraw from the traditional
school and enroll in our program, you have to be prepared to dedicate a certain amount of time and energy to know what is happening at your zoned school and keeping up with your work!

Our K-6 students will be using the Schoology program and have live classes with classroom teachers daily.

Our 7-12 students use the Edgenuity Program. Students will have live classes with Math, Science and Engilsh teachers and are expected to work independently on the edgenuity program, manage their time, and keep up with our social media sites and school website.

Remember, your child may still be participating in some activities at their zoned school, but they are enrolled at Houston County
Virtual Academy. Counselors and teachers at the zoned school will not have access to any of your child's information. All questions
and concerns should be directed to the Houston County Virtual Academy staff.

reach out for help you are not alone

There is always someone they can reach out to if their equipment isn't working, they don't understand something or they just need some general assistance.

We are just a phone call away or you can stop by and see us at 662 West Main Street, Dothan any time between 8-3 Monday-Friday during the school year.

Once you have turned in your enrollment packet, we will request student records from the previous school.
Once we have reviewed them, you will be contacted by your child's guidance counselor and will be instructed on what to do next.

Typically, a meeting is scheduled for you to pick up your Chromebook, sign your paperwork, and get an overview of how
your program works (according to your grade level). You will then be ready to get started on your virtual courses.
